Current Research

Implementating cosmic ray physics

I'm working on implementing the cosmic ray physics to the hydrodynamical simulation code Dyablo.

High-resolution zoom-in simulation of a galaxy cluster

Han et al. (Submitted, 2025)

NewCluster is a zoom-in simulation of a region around a galaxy cluster with Mvir ~ 5 × 1014 M. It has a spatial resolution of ~70 pc and mass resolution of ~2 × 104 M for stars, and ~1.3 × 106 M for dark matter. This simulation provides unprecedented details for systems at this scale and is expected to become a valuable information for researchers interested in studying high-density environments in the universe. The simulation aims to realistically reproduce the evolution of the high-density region of the universe starting from the initial condition of z = 50 down to local redshift. NewCluster includes many state-of-the-art astrophysical prescriptions, such as supernovae type II and Ia, stellar winds, thermo-turbuent star formation, and dual-mode AGN feedback.

  • Improving astrophysical simulation code RAMSES

    Han et al. (ApJ, 2024)

    RAMSES uses MPI-based multiprocessing, which is inefficient at very large number of cores (~10,000). I am working on implementing OpenMP in RAMSES to construct hybrid paralleism, which greatly increases scalability of the code.
